Well, here we are on our very first official Jam Session in Red X studios.....notice, I'm suspiciously missing from this photograph, as I was taking the picture. We've since jammed about 3 or 4 times, and it's going great. AJ & Ben write some mean guitar licks, I come up with the lyrics, Brent & Frady Cat conspire to make rhythmn, and we take it from there....we do not have a name yet, but we've got three songs in the works and more to follow....any suggestions for name???? please post 'em :) Earl

I'm only posting this because you asked. It's fun to make up names.

I gave it some thought and I would like to submit the name, Empty Grave.

You should have made me take the picture so you could be in it. Now everyones going to ask, 'whos that kid not holding an instrument?' Then you can say, our first groupie.

You need word verification

I would keep the name "Red-X". Not only is it a cool name, catchy and easy to remember... but if you use it,Steve Taylor wouldn't have to keep explaining his license plate.

Sorry. I call the band stormcrow.

Have your fun thinking of names, but in the end it will be a band decision. HA! Bung. It won't be red-x, or x red x. Better chance of it being...Dirt button.

shawn seems to think that the band name is up for ideas. after some more thought, here's some other possibilities:

redcrow
xstormx
dorkboys

I didn't like the name redx too much either...

i'm pretty sure i heard that george got the rest of the boys really drunk and convinced them to sign over the name, so all the red x talk is a moot point. or was that axl?

How about Red Xtra?

I have it!!!

An obscure but clever literary allusion will be a perfect name for the band.

"Red-X and the Switchblades"

good stuff, georgiame!

here's one: redstormaxl

run from the red-x...run. You can't start something new by going back to something old. Have nothing to do with previous band names, theres infinate posibilities as to something new. And ben's right that it's a band thing. And from the looks of it, none of the other band members want anything to do with red or x.

But we're having so much fun playing with the Red and the X !

How about another obscure literary allusion, a combination of Tolkien and Red X :

Redendale-x

I have to say, Georgia's suggestions are by far the most entertaining. But why not follow the first guy's advice and go with "Invading Pyongyang" or "Conventional Weapons"?

Don't you wish someone was taking this seriously? :)

Nicely said. You can't start something new by digging in the past for former names, songs, ideas, people...etc

More Tolkien stuff:

Red X-Wraiths

Or for something entirely different to satisfy Murdoc:

Blue Q

(actually I stole these ideas from Dennis)

Sorry to go serious on this one, but it is not important to me to name a band at all at this point. It is more important to get commitment and put a lot of heart, effort and time into this "band thing." Playing out in a professional mannor is my dream and I take it very seriously because it is near and dear to my heart. The best bands work their hearts out to achieve this. I am willing to go that mile and give it my all. A band name doesn't get this done from my perspective.

Wow! 20 posts is a record for my blogger, especially since I only update once a month or so.....I'll do better in the future. I laugh A LOT at the twister versions of RED X that I'm seeing :) Honestly, I never loved the name, but appreciated George's attempt at a symbolic yet catchy name-no one's forgotten it yet.......... maybe because we can't :) anyhow, I like symbolic stuff, so that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Besides, the music studio at my pad is now called Red X studio, and my publishing company will be Red X Records, which is cool I think. No need to steal or borrow from the past, and no need for any of the newbies to get their panties in a wad over the band name.....it'll come together, but it does need to fit our vision, something we're still refining at this point.....Jesus help us! Invading Pyongyang is an awesome name. I'm thinking Your Mom was in Red X would be pretty good.

And I'll give murdoc a pat on the back for subtlety. Wait, no I won't.

do I have the record? Cuz that means I'm beating Brent's mom, and since I'm the scarcest blogger of all time, that makes it even more meaningful to have the record! Let me know!
